The Power of Progress—How To Achieve Massive Results In Life

“How do I make a difference in life?” There was a day when I didn’t know how to answer this for myself. I was ashamed at the lack of impact I had made in my life. But, to be fair, I didn’t know at the time that I had a purpose that could lead me to my destiny. I have since learned some answers to how to live a more impactful life and leave an enduring legacy. Progress comes daily now and I’m starting to see some results. I finally have the direction I needed and believe you can too.

When you find a definite direction in life and commit to walking toward it every day pretty soon you start to make very measurable progress. Even if you only take a few steps a day, if you do it every day it won’t be long before you’ve walked a mile.

Once you have walked that mile in life you might say, “Geesh, I’ve never walked a mile before in my life.” The reason is that you’d take a few steps in one direction and then another and you never got anywhere because you were walking in circles. That is what most of humanity is doing. That’s what my life was like.

Without direction we flounder. We bounce around from one activity to another and never get anywhere significant.

To get somewhere significant in life you have to find your specific purpose and take disciplined action to get there. I promise you once you do you will be amazed at how quickly progress comes.

Here are three steps to achieving massive results in life:

1- Find Your Purpose

The first step to powerful progress is to find your purpose. This is your God-given calling and everyone has one. By having purpose you have reason to achieve. When you have purpose you begin to exist to fulfill it.

Purpose is what brings direction to your life. If you haven’t got anywhere significant at all the reason is that you are not aware of it what it is. Purpose clarifies our direction and causes us to orient all our effort toward achieving it.

Before I experienced a fairly radical calling I had no idea what my purpose was. My goal in life was to make it through another day and try to have as much pleasure as possible doing it. It seemed ok for a while until I started looking around in my 40’s disillusioned because I had nothing to show for my life and no idea where to go from there.

But once I figured out why I was here on this planet, that purpose aligned me like a powerful magnet. And that magnet has been steadily drawing me closer ever since.

2- Feel Your Passion

Once you become aligned with your purpose you will find all of the natural motivation you need. You were crafted specifically for your purpose and when you find it you feel like a highly-tuned engine running on racing fuel.

That’s because you are in your element and find progress easily which is incredibly motivating. Your purpose always plays to certain strengths of yours because that’s how God designs us. And being good at something is always fun!

You never have to work yourself up to take steps toward your goals. You want to make progress and as much of it as possible. There is no drudgery in the day-to-day—you take each step with joy.

Since realizing my purpose in life I’ve known more joy than I ever have before. Joy is so much deeper than happiness. It comes from knowing that you are living your truth and that nothing can take that away. The struggles of life can’t steal it.

And it’s addicting. The more I experience joy because of my purpose the more I want it. I drive further and further towards my destiny because my joy only becomes stronger and stronger.

3- Commit To Practice

Once we know our purpose we have to effectively live it out. This is the practice of our purpose. The goal is to make as big of strides towards it as possible and make as big of an impact as we can. This is accomplished on a daily basis with a couple simple concepts:

  • Focus. Find a few places to focus your attention on every single day. I want to reach people with my message so I draft or publish on my blog or Quora every single day. I attend to Twitter and a few simple strategies for growth every single day. But that’s it. Keeping that focus is similar to taking those simple steps in the journey of your life. Keep one foot in front of the other and you eventually reach a mile. But go off on tangents and you might not ever get there.

  • Simplicity. If you want real progress towards fulfilling your purpose make things as easy as possible. With all of my areas of focus, I use systems and templates to make the job as easy as possible. As I establish patterns day after day they become second-nature—I don’t even have to think about them. And this is where my real progress is coming from. All I have to do is focus on filling in the blanks. With this strategy, I can post nearly a blog article every day reaching people who need the message and building my database of content as I do.

Take Away

If you are spinning your wheels in life and not making progress toward anywhere meaningful take a few moments to think through your purpose, passion, and practice. The purpose is what sets it all in motion. If you are finding difficulty in this, take heart—I’ve been there too.

In fact, the realization of my purpose was so powerful to me because I had spent a lifetime trying to find it. It took 44 years but it came like a lightning bolt. Don’t lose hope.

I’ve come to the conclusion that there are some ways to encourage that calling, namely, to be receptive to it. Ask God to make it clear to you and keep watch for the answer.

When you finally do have it, live it out with focus and simplicity every single day and you will be amazed at the results.

Hello, my name is Aaron Force. I’m a blogger based in Seattle, Washington. I’ve been spiritually-minded for most of my life. Unfortunately, I’ve also lost my way during much of that time. I felt a seed of greatness hidden somewhere deep down inside but was blinded from it. That is until I experienced an honest-to-goodness calling and moment of awakening. I would be lying if I told you I had it all figured out. But I’m here to tell my story and maybe, just maybe, help you become aware of an even more amazing universe than the one your rational mind already knows.
