Finding Joy Through The Magic of Life
Life can be such a trip. There are things about this universe I live in that blow my mind daily. I call these things “magic.” They are the precious glimpses into the divine that are made available for us to marvel at. They make my life so much richer. They bring me increased fulfillment. And best of all they are free. I want to share some of the magic that enriches my life in order to inspire you to find it in your own life. I’d love to hear your own experiences about the magic of life—feel free to leave your comments below.
There are things that we’ve seen so many times we no longer see how amazing they are. I think it’s part of being human—if we actually noticed how amazing everything is our ability to process it all would be overloaded and we would fall in a heap of exhaustion every day. At some point, our minds have to cut out the clutter.
But being human is also about being in awe of the universe we are immersed in.
It has to be. If we are ever going to say we have ever lived we have to say we have loved. I don’t just mean other people. I mean life.
Life is meant to be loved!
What is it that made you fall in love with someone? There may have been a mystery about them, a complexity, perhaps they had a passionate purpose. They might have been beautiful. Life is that same way.
The Magic of Life
The universe is full of order and design, purpose and passion. It is full of mystery. Beauty is everywhere. And I’m not just a stranger amongst it—I’m part of it. When I realize that I am connected to it all and that it is connected to me my appreciation skyrockets.
I love to view the mountains from my backyard—their majesty, the power that must have crafted them, their agelessness.
I geek out over the plants and trees and how they form from a tiny seed. They come with a built-in program, an auto-routine that doesn’t need my help at all. Something clicks inside and the seed beeps to life and begins to build a tree or a plant or a blade of grass. It forms roots and a trunk and branches and leaves or needles. It’s just a woody mass yet it lives. There is no tree brain in there as far as I’ve ever seen but it grows and lives just as it was designed to do just like my body grows without my conscious input.
At night I stare up at the stars and marvel at the expanse of space that must lie beyond our visibility. How many universes are out there? What beauty and order there must be beyond the farthest capacity of our mind to comprehend—and yet we will never see them.
The moon captivates me so much because it just floats there in a sea of nothing. Even it, a giant mass of rock, is attracted through unseen energy with our own rock we live on. It’s almost like they are also alive, dancing with each other at all times through all of history and into the future without ever stepping on each other’s toes.
I will sometimes stare at the back of my hand in complete wonder. If anyone saw me they would assume that I was high on drugs. But I’m high on the magic of life. Seriously—stare at the back of your own hand for a moment. Move your fingers just a little and you will become aware of the veins and tendons. Each has a purpose and each is designed with the right material, strength, flexibility, etc. to do their jobs perfectly. There are design and function in all of that. It didn’t just happen, someone wired you that way. It blows my mind every time I consider it.
Your brain has 100 billion neurons intricately woven together that have the ability to produce and store thought along with emotion, desire, and an unconscious faculty to operate the systems of your body without any further input from you. Could you take 100 billion strands of wire and make anything remotely as powerful?
Magic is everywhere. In a million times greater magnitude than my simple observations here, magic is everywhere. I’m sure I could go on for days finding a thousand things to be in awe of.
Why does it matter?
Because it helps us love life.
And love brings hope. And love brings meaning. And love brings a reason.
It’s appreciating the magic of life that helps us say we’ve truly lived. It’s not being aware of any of it that proves we’ve been dead all along.
Take Away
If you’ve been on autopilot so long that you’ve forgotten how magical life is, begin today to take notice of its order, design, beauty, and function.
As you do, it will awaken something inside of you. You will find your place in this amazing universe and that you have a part—a connection with—the grand design.
You will experience an awe that will bring humility and yet set your sights soaring. It will produce a faith in you that there is a Designer and Sustainer who has also crafted you and holds you in His hands. What hope, what comfort!
Every day this week try to journal one thing that blows your mind and the ways in which it does so. Write out the details so you can see them and really reflect on them. For that matter, never stop cataloging the magic of life. Search for it everywhere and you will find it. Contemplate it and it will change you. Meditate on it and it will bring you joy.
Hello, my name is Aaron Force. I’m a blogger based in Seattle, Washington. I’ve been spiritually-minded for most of my life. Unfortunately, I’ve also lost my way during much of that time. I felt a seed of greatness hidden somewhere deep down inside but was blinded from it. That is until I experienced an honest-to-goodness calling and moment of awakening. I would be lying if I told you I had it all figured out. But I’m here to tell my story and maybe, just maybe, help you become aware of an even more amazing universe than the one your rational mind already knows.

Aaron unexpectedly experienced his own profound awakening and ego transcendence in 2015 and soon understood that the qualities of his own experience (a greater expansion and evolution in his life) could be applied to mankind collectively.
