Awakening is a Global Movement Towards a More Unified Humanity

The awakening that has been occurring across the globe has many benefits. One of the most exciting in terms of possibility is that humanity is facing the prospect of going from a violent, self-serving and destructive state to one of infinitely greater harmony. As more people awaken we can see the movement to a more unified humanity.

Awakening is a global phenomenon. The holy men of India or Bali or Tibet cannot lay exclusive claim to enlightenment. Very average people from average places who have little to no connection to any real observable form of conscious spirituality are finding themselves awakened.

This is exactly my own personal experience as I sit here writing this from the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in rural Washington State. In my activity researching and connecting with others, I find that consciousness is increasing all across the earth. Where borders divide us politically, none do spiritually.

The internet and subscription television services are modern tools which are serving to spread “awareness” of consciousness to the remotest parts of the planet. This is unprecedented—never before has all of humanity had access to materials that describe the act of awakening or even the message that there is one. We have never experienced this level of conscious-generating materials or first-hand accounts of the process.

Awakening is a global event as well because humanity has been quickly escalating to a pinnacle of suffering. Particularly over the last two centuries, and more intensely as time progresses, humanity has been losing its spiritual traditions. This is seen reflected in the Age of Reason and the Industrial Revolution. As these paradigms took root more logical and linear ways of thinking and being started to take over at the disposal of more spiritual ways our ancestors knew and practiced.

We’ve also experienced a shift away from nature in an embrace of much more “civilized” ways of living. In the move away from the natural we have also moved away from the spiritual and experienced the costs of it. Humanity, by and large, is entrapped in a state of drudgery and meaninglessness. We are locked in rigid patterns of thought and activity that leave us empty and begging for more.

As well, our modern popular media tends to idolize the ego. The collective ego of mankind has reached unprecedented levels and, in so doing, generated unprecedented levels of isolation and self-service that leads to incredible suffering.

All of these factors have produced a tipping point of sorts and the stage has been set for the onset of awakening on a grand scale. Awakening tends to find its birth in suffering as our egoic or mind-based identities seek to separate from the pain they have identified with for so long—the pain that we tend to associate with through the mind or ego.

  • In what ways do you see awakening occur among all peoples of the earth? Is there any reason why any person or people group should not have the ability to awaken?
  • How do you see ego create suffering globally? In what ways do you think that suffering might lead to greater awakening?
