How To Hear From God
Can people hear from God? Can people know truth? I believe we can and that we have a way to encourage it. I have learned this key to hearing from God first-hand. I pray that it will help you know and find truth as effectively as it as for me. Read on to find out the secret of how to hear from God.
Most people wouldn’t argue that the modern world is full of noise and distraction. Our lives are bustling and brimming with sounds. It’s hard to escape the noise of cars and radios and televisions. And with the invention of the smart phone, we can take the noise and distraction with us—even into the midst of the wilderness.
The nameless number of noises and distractions cloud the waters of the mind like silty flood water. It’s only when the waters of life find a calm stillness that the sediment settles out and allows clarity.
Clarity & Vision
Clarity improves vision.
Have you ever thought about what vision is?
When I was young I used to think that vision was some kind of signal sent out from my eyes in order to retrieve images. But in reality, vision is about the reception of light rays.
Our eyes give us vision by capturing light on the retinas which in turn, through complex methods, turns that light into images our minds can “see.” The light is key.
But when the air is dusty or smoky the enormous quantity of particulates can cause light to reflect in a thousand different directions. The ability for me to receive the light intact is greatly diminished.
Our modern world is like that silty water or hazy atmosphere. Everything is agitated and upset. It makes it all so difficult to see; so difficult to have clear vision in life. We lose the clarity.
So, Why Do People Choose Chaos?
Noise is a natural byproduct of a modern technology. It’s difficult to escape it and that is understandable.
But we also tend to immerse ourselves in it when we could choose silence. I’m not sure why we crave so much noise. It doesn’t make any sense at all except for one possible explanation. We are scared to find out what we might hear in the silence.
We muddy the waters so we don’t have to see. If we don’t see, well, we can’t be compelled to do anything about what we see. If we fill the air with so much noise we can’t hear, we excuse ourselves from the responsibility of doing something about what we hear.
What we might see or hear if we are silent is Truth.
Truth lives in the silence. It is what you are left with when you remove all of the distraction and the random thoughts, fears, and desires. Our stillness clarifies it.
Truth can be unsettling in its own way. Truth might tell us that we are on the wrong path or remind us of the consequences that are coming our way for avoiding important decisions.
Truth is uncomfortable. It confronts me about things I don’t really want to confront. It causes work for me.
Even though truth will only ever help us, for some reason we avoid it like it’s going to kill us. We do anything to block its signal from getting through to us.
Receptivity
Our minds are receptors. They pick up and amplify truth.
For almost all of us, truth can be scary or difficult to deal with. So, we fill our mind with other things so we don’t have to face it. We drown it out with video games or TV or Facebook and YouTube videos. It’s so much more convenient to not hear the small, still voice of truth in our heads than deal with what it is asking of us.
If our mind is filled with a million distractions, just like unsettled mediums of water or air, we are not going to receive a proper transmission. And hearing from God does help us. God has things to say to us if only we be still enough to understand them.
The idea may be absurd to some but many countless others know it’s true. In the silence of mindfulness or deep spiritual meditation, in the absence of all noise and distraction, we find the silt of our mind settles enough to let the light of God’s words shine through.
If we don’t get away from it the noise keeps us from hearing what God needs us to hear.
He needs us to hear that He has immense love for us. He needs us to hear that He has a plan for us. He needs us to hear how to achieve that plan.
Those things will only be revealed if we are still and quiet.
Take Away
Some of us do so many good things for ourselves. We go to church when we don’t want to. We go through the exertion of exercise and bear it knowing it is good for us.
We do, do, do and those are good things. But why can’t we do nothing if it can help us so much?
Ironically, in this modern age, doing nothing is a commitment. It is something that you have to decide to do like going to church or exercising.
Doing nothing requires willpower. Fortunately, our willpower gets better with habit so make a plan and start.
The greatest spiritual teachers throughout history have cautioned us to find a solitary place and get quiet. If you are not finding the guidance you need in life start right now by beginning a “detox.” Avoid the television, the phone, the internet. Turn off the music. Find some time alone from even your loved ones. Just listen. Focus. You will hear Truth in your mind.
It may not happen immediately but keep at it. Make a lifestyle of cutting back on noise and distraction to the best of your ability. I promise you that when you eliminate the distraction you will find the direction that you are looking for.
God speaks in the silence.
Hello, my name is Aaron Force. I’m a blogger based in Seattle, Washington. I’ve been spiritually-minded for most of my life. Unfortunately, I’ve also lost my way during much of that time. I felt a seed of greatness hidden somewhere deep down inside but was blinded from it. That is until I experienced an honest-to-goodness calling and moment of awakening. I would be lying if I told you I had it all figured out. But I’m here to tell my story and maybe, just maybe, help you become aware of an even more amazing universe than the one your rational mind already knows.
Aaron Force is a blogger from Seattle, Washington. He writes to educate others about the nature of an expanded consciousness to evolve humanity. Aaron unexpectedly experienced his own profound awakening and ego transcendence in 2015 and soon understood that the qualities of his own experience (a greater expansion and evolution in his life) could be applied to mankind collectively.
